Can digital TV tuner for laptops work anywhere?
Recently, I was thinking of buying a digital tv tuner for my PC. I was just wondering if, say, I buy it in America or Japan, then I can watch both American and/or Japanese live broadcasts while I am abroad in Europe? Or do digital tuners only work for the signals from the country that they were designed for? I mean all digital signals are the same so in theory any digital tuner should be able to pick up its native and foreign broadcasts wherever it is right?

Actually, all digital signals are not the same. At least North America and S. Korea use ATSC, and much of Europe and the rest of the world use DVB-T for broadcast television. I believe Japan uses their own format for digital television broadcasting. You need to find a tuner that can tune all the formats you need, or separate tuners for the formats of interest. Obviously, whatever tuner(s) you do get, you will only be able to watch the only local broadcasts wherever you are. There is no way to watch TV from more that 100KM away, let alone halfway across the world, with a simple TV tuner and antenna. That has to do with the basic physics of TV broadcasting, not your tuners or anything political
