Can I use my laptop in Japan

Can I use my laptop in Japan?
My laptop is an HP Pavilion dv6000 Widescreen. I'm taking it to Japan with me this next week. Can I use it there, or do I need some special power converter to plug it into the wall?

Answer 1 :
You can use the laptop just fine anywhere in the world, your only problem will be power. You will need to get a converter in order to plug it in.
Answer 2 :
Talk to your travel agent.
Answer 3 :
yah it's called the "European" Power Converter Plug.
Answer 4 :
ALL LAPTOPS AND PORTABLE DEVICES HAVE A UNIVERSAL POWER ADAPTER !
Answer 5 :
Of course you can use it. The poweer cord has a built in transformer. Most everything does these days. If you have a three-prong plug, you need to get an adapter for two-prong. The Japanese one is slightly different in size.
Answer 6 :
They don't allow computers in Japan!!!
Answer 7 :
YARSH!! U need to make sure there's a connection if u wanna go on the internet n that u have wireless, also u'll need to take ur charger 4 ur battery!!

Has anybody ever bought a laptop computer in Japan

Has anybody ever bought a laptop computer in Japan?

Answer 1 :
Yes it was made in Cleavland! what are you trying to save shipping?
Answer 2 :
If you buy laptop in Japan, then they are Japanese OS. You can buy English OS separately and install it.
Answer 3 :
I am typing this on a laptop purchased in Japan. You can set XP to either English or Japanese, so that is not a problem. The major problem is the keyboard. If you get the standard Japanese keyboard, you get extra keys for Japanese kanji, a couple of keys that are located in different areas of the keyboard (e.g., parantheses, @, colon, semicolon), and smaller spacebar and right shift key. It takes a while to get used to, especially if you switch back and forth between English and Japanese keyboards. With some laptops, you get the option of choosing an English version keyboard. Hope this helps.
Answer 4 :
OS is basically in Japanese only. Be ware. don't install English Windows to some special and elaborate designed PC sold in Japan. such as SONY Vaio, NEC. Probably the one of Fujitsu you are going buy is ok. But you need to find and install proper drivers as well. Fujitsu models have both Office2003 installed model and no Office. Buy Office English version by yourself

Answer 1 :
some are made in japan anyway
Answer 2 :
if you get one in america it will be formatted like a typical computer you would see. when i went to japan there was a difference in the keyboards, but nothing too much. so whichver you feel more comfortable with you should go for. also i think you can get a cheaper computer in america. more bang for the buck too.
Answer 3 :
all laptops are made in japan and they are cheaper and new models are released quickly
Answer 4 :
I'd guess 99% of all lap tops are made in China. My Toshiba is made in China! I think some Fijitsu computers maybe made in Japan. They will cost more in Japan.I think the software will also be different for US / Japanese computers. Quality will be exactly the same.
Answer 5 :
Since you are going to study in Japan, you'd better buy Japanese laptop with Japanese letter-writing function. Don't worry! Japanese PC is perfectly capable of writing English as well. You can buy them in Japan at about 30,000 yen or 325 USD. Japanese laptops are best in the world.
Answer 6 :
Japanese machine has different KEY allotment. Othewise it depends customer's own taste. Yen is stronger than before now and ongoing so price comparison in US$ for future is quite difficult unless you have enough Yen already. Qualtiy? Not big difference. Japanese and American both ones are actually made in China now.
Answer 7 :
Generally they are 20-30% more expensive in Japan (compared to the US price) unless you manage to find a special sale. There are some unique models which are available only in Japan though. The keyboard, software, and warranties will all be in Japanese
