Is it safe to plug in a laptop adapter with an output of 100v-240v here in the Philippines
Is it safe to plug in a laptop adapter with an output of 100v-240v here in the Philippines?
My dad bought a Dell Inspiron 9300 laptop in Japan and decided to send it to us here in the Philippines. Every time he sends a gadget or an electrical appliance from there we have to use a transformer before connecting it to our outlets here because he said that it may blow. We have to use a very bulky transformer for this laptop and I want to be able to carry it and charge it anywhere I go minus the transformer. Can that be possible?

Answer 1 :
Yup, you can plug it anywhere you like. Philippine electricity on appliances ranges to 220v so your laptop adaptor can take the voltage.
Answer 2 :
If the device is rated up to 240 you'll be fine. When I first moved to the Philippines, I would sometimes forget to check and I fried a few of my electronic toys

Is it possible that I will have a US keyboard when buying a laptop in Japan
Is it possible that I will have a US keyboard when buying a laptop in Japan?
I'm planning top buy a laptop in Japan (specifically, a Vaio CR series). But my problem is, the keyboard has a Japanese text (w/ english) and I don't like japanese texts. So my question is that is it possible that when I buy a laptop in japan, the keyboard will only have a plain English (not with japanese texts)? I will much appreciate if a japanese can answer this ^_^

Answer 1 :
If your talking about the plug, buy an adapter. You should buy a voltage converter as well that may be where the line came from it could be causing damage to your computer.
Answer 2 :
If you mean a line on the screen. That has nothing do do with the power you have a problem with your video. Your video converter is most likely broken.
Answer 3 :
to change the system language to Japanese. (for XP, the options are just placed in different tabs in vista but still same steps tho) click on START CONTROL PANEL DATE, TIME, LANGUAGE, AND REGIONAL OPTIONS click on LANGUAGES tab check INSTALL FILES FOR EAST ASIAN LANGUAGES go to ADVANCED tab choose JAPANESE on the drop down menu click on REGIONAL OPTIONS choose JAPANESE on the 1st drop down menu choose JAPAN on the 2nd drop down menu restart the pc
Answer 4 :
What do you mean by convert to Japanese ?? Change the language to Japanese , Type or read Japanese ? If you see a line on the screen, it has nothing to do with being in Japan. Most probably something wrong with your graphics card or the screen. GIVE MORE DETAILS! BTW Both Japan and US use 110v Type A (Two pin) or Type B (3 pin) plugs. You donĂ¢€™t need any converters

Answer 1 :
Cost of living is higher in Japan compared to most other areas of the world, but the Japanese do offer more cameras with better capabilities at much lower prices than anywhere else in the world (except maybe China who sells at lower prices - for now). Be aware of one thing. The common camera in Japan is set to NTSC like the US. If you need camera to connect directly to European TVs, be sure the camera you buy to bring back to Europe is set to PAL or can record or output in PAL. Regardless of the PAL or NTSC setting of the camera, you will always be able to connect to any computer for digital editing. In other words, If you see a camera in Japan that you really want but is only in NTSC and you don't ever plan to connect directly to a TV, Buy It! You can always convert the video to PAL in your computer during editing.
Answer 2 :
be prepared to pay an import fee/ tariff when you return...England imposes taxes on all electronics
