Will my Bluetooth and Wifi wireless devices work in Japan?
Is the Bluetooth in my devices laptop legal to use in Japan? Will I be able to hook up to Wifi with my current card there? I just remembered that Wifi did work when I used my laptop there two summers ago. And it seems to be the case that Bluetooth will work there, according to what many of you have said. Good to know I won't have to replace everything when I hit island-side =)

Answer 9 :
DEFINITLY ITS JAPAN MAN CMON!!!!
Answer 10 :
Your blue tooth will work depending on the version. (If yours is v2.0, then surely yes, else it depends on what the other blue tooth device is.) And Blue tooth is legal to use in Japan, except in places of defense (Illegal in most of the countries). And about Wifi devices, it again depends on what the other version is and what version you have. If you have the latest n-type, it sure will work on any network. If you ABG, then N type will not work. (Many public networks in Japan is B/G type). If it is AG, then B and N type will not work!! So that's all that it depends on, again, WiFi is illegal to be used in places of defense.
Answer 11 :
honestly it is going to depend..when we were in japan 91-98 you couldnt use a cordless phone from the us it had to be bought on the local economy so your best bet is going to be to get in contact with someone that is already there..if you are in the service they will send you a sponser packet if you request one..i suggest you do
Answer 12 :
yep. there shouldn't be a difference at all no matter how far you leave from home

Answer 1 :
I don't think you can use a phone purchased in Japan in the US. Cell phone signals to not reach overseas. The only way would be to make sure a phone of an identical model is sold in the US and transfer the sim card from a similar phone of the same brand. Generally, things in Japan are more expensive than things sold in the US. I don't know about the warranty, because most things in Japan cannot be returned.
Answer 2 :
It is not cheap to buy electronic gadgets in Japan..specially "Made in Japan". If you go to Hong Kong or China, they are really cheap. No tax! Of course, you will have to know what you are buying. Most of the gadgets sold in Hong Kong or China are only warranty in China, Hong Kong and Macau. Depending on what you buy some will have Int'l warranty with it

Can digital TV tuner for laptops work anywhere
Can digital TV tuner for laptops work anywhere?
Recently, I was thinking of buying a digital tv tuner for my PC. I was just wondering if, say, I buy it in America or Japan, then I can watch both American and/or Japanese live broadcasts while I am abroad in Europe? Or do digital tuners only work for the signals from the country that they were designed for? I mean all digital signals are the same so in theory any digital tuner should be able to pick up its native and foreign broadcasts wherever it is right?

maybe
Answer 2 :
Actually, all digital signals are not the same. At least North America and S. Korea use ATSC, and much of Europe and the rest of the world use DVB-T for broadcast television. I believe Japan uses their own format for digital television broadcasting. You need to find a tuner that can tune all the formats you need, or separate tuners for the formats of interest. Obviously, whatever tuner(s) you do get, you will only be able to watch the only local broadcasts wherever you are. There is no way to watch TV from more that 100KM away, let alone halfway across the world, with a simple TV tuner and antenna. That has to do with the basic physics of TV broadcasting, not your tuners or anything political

Answer 1 :
yes but you might have some difficulty with getting the language right and the internet
Answer 2 :
I'm not sure about the duty price but it should work fine. OS X gives you the option for english on bootup regardless of where you bought it. You'll save heaps if you buy a bag and not have to pay duty
Answer 3 :
I think whether you buy it in Japan or in Australia, the Mac will have almost the same price. And yes, It will work perfectly anywhere. Apple provides service and support in almost any part of the world, there should be no problem in getting help if you need any. Also, the Mac OS X can be set so you can make the language setup in English, so there's no need to worry for the language settings. In my case, my MacBook Pro was shipped here in the Philippines from Singapore, and I'm using it with no problems so far. Hope this helps your question
