How much are electronics in Japan?
How much are TV's, iPods, Laptops and other electronics in Japan? I know how much they are in American, but a friend of mine is going there in a few weeks and he wanted to know. Thanks. Um, I can't read or find out the prices in Japanese =/ Nvm, I got it. Not that big of a difference. =/ Hmm. Thought they may be dirt cheap.

Below are the cheapest price on the Net, so keep in mind actual price in real-stores are usually higher than these. How much higher is depends on where you visits. All links are in Japanese, but you can make out the prices. For the most part, things will be higher. And much of it will be made in China anyway. Exceptions will be things like upper end cameras like DSLRs. Bear in mind store costs are also much higher in Japan and those costs have to be added on. I asked a friend about a 35mm camera I was interested in. The price was within a few dollars of what it was here. Nothing is dirt cheap in Japan.

travis, tell your friend that it's not worth getting electronics in Japan these days. I've purchased electronics in my travels to Tokyo in the past but I am finding that most items can now be purchased via Internet at lower or comparable prices. I would only but new gadgets if they will not be in the US in a year or two or not available in US market. P.S. Also, let your friend know that most elec. gadgets only have Japanese instruction, so support on the gadgets will be limited to none when you have issues after you come back to US
