Should I buy a laptop in Japan

Should I buy a laptop in Japan.?
I'm going to Japan This fall with my unit to cross train with the Japanese Army and I would like to buy some stuff while im over there. Im thinking a computer since they're so expensive here in the states. Are they the same price as the US or are they more expensive overseas?

Answer 1 :
They would be about the same price or cheaper in Japan, because it's a pretty advanced country and a major producer of technology. Not to mention it's pretty close to China, which makes everything.
Answer 2 :
+Isn't the electric a bit different over there? Wouldn't you need some sort of converter if you brought one back from overseas? And would the manufacturer give you support here in the US for something you bought in another country? Wouldn't the keyboard be different and wouldn't you have to change the Operating System language to English (which would probably mean a reinstall of the OS?)? Just some questions you might ask yourself.
Answer 3 :
If you buy a Mac there should be no problems with language- but the price is pretty much the same. Windows, the O.S will be in Japanese unless you hunt down a specialty store that sells English language operating systems. There are not many of those but I'm sure another poster can point you in the right direction. There are sometimes ads for a store that does that in the papers or in Japanzine. Warranty is not typically supported outside of Japan
